As 2019 unfolds before us, Amany’s Hope Sponsorship Team would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters, donors and churches for all each and every one of you have done providing assistance to help us bring our refugee family to Peterborough.
Much has happened since the fall of 2017 when we began this initiative. And much as happened over the past month and a half to our sponsored refugee family which we would like to tell all of you about.
On December 12th in Beirut, Lebanon, where our family is waiting, the mother and father became proud parents of their new infant son. There were complications at the hospital in Beirut, but thankfully, the doctors there were able to deliver the boy safely and both mother and baby are doing well.
Two weeks ago, the family received a call from the Canadian embassy in Beirut – they have been invited in for an immigration interview at the end of January!
This is a huge step – and one that Amany’s Hope Sponsorship Team has been working toward for over a year now. This interview is critical step for the family coming to Peterborough, Ontario.
The father also had to go into the hospital for emergency surgery. As a result of an attack from a street gang when he was returning from trying to find part-time work earlier in 2018, the wound on his chest had become infected. The doctor who saw the wound told the father they had to operate immediately.
Amany’s Hope Sponsorship Team moved quickly to ensure the operation was carried out and I’m happy to report he is now recovering.
Amany’s Hope Sponsorship Team is humbled by your support and we will honour it and continue to be the best stewards of what you have provided.
