We are blessed to be able to live in this country free and secure. As a member of Amany’s Hope Sponsorship Team, I’ve seen just how many perils the children in refugee camps are facing and what drove them there: war, the lack of food, water and shelter, physical injuries, lace of medical care, lack of schooling. The ache, once arriving at a refugee camp, doesn’t end either. The children and their parents continue to experience the heartbreak of separation with loved ones, loss of community, uncertainty about the future, sickness, abuse – the list goes on and on.
It was because of the assistance of so many individuals, churches and organizations who came together for Aylan’s Breath last year that we were able to share one family’s story with Peterborough and through those actions were able to bring the family safely over and assist them with integration into Peterborough.
Amany’s Hope is the teanm that has come together in 2018 so that we can bring another family out of the refugee camps of Syria to help them settle in Peterborough. The Sponsorship Fundraising Dinner is being held on Saturday, December 16th, 6 pm, at Living Hope Church in Peterborough (1 Consumers Place, next to the OPP Detachment). The tickets are $50, with a $35 tax receipt being available.
I would ask that you consider what you can do this Christmas season to bring another family, who have nothing, to their new home in Canada. Please feel free to email me if you’d like tickets, or call my mobile number below. I’d be happy to get the ticket(s) to you.
If you are unable to attend the dinner, please consider what an end-of-year tax-receipt donation for this great cause could do. Thank you!
Have a great Christmas!
